The story of Alpha in Ireland
Alpha Ireland began its work serving the church in Dublin, we have now grown into a nationwide organisation with a core team in our national office and a number of regional volunteers.
In 2025, over 300 Alpha, Alpha Youth and Marriage and Parenting courses ran in churches, schools, prison and community settings in the Republic of Ireland. The board of trustees includes representatives of the Roman Catholic and Protestant churches.
While Alpha has grown in Ireland, over the world millions of people have been on one of our courses and it has been translated into 112 different languages.
When once The Alpha Course was given as a series of talks, we now provide high quality video content and a suite of seven courses designed to speak to contemporary audiences in a relevant and engaging way.
The Alpha Ireland office, led by our National Director Dominic Perrem, exists to equip the parishes, schools and communities of Ireland with our tools and vision for a peaceful future and faith-filled life.
An effective tool for evangelisation
Alpha is a toolkit for local churches based on hospitality, sharing and open conversation. The same Alpha content is run all over the world, by Christians of all traditions and provides a common expression of proclamation, service and witness. Millions of people have experienced Alpha in over 100 countries and over 100 languages around the globe.
We are passionate about unity
Alpha is focused on the heart of the message of Christ in the Gospel. We believe that what unites us is infinitely greater than what divides us. By focusing on the essentials of the Christian faith, it opens the door for Alpha to be used in almost any context.

Our goal is to continually support the church with resources and tools that help create a space where people are excited to bring their friends for a conversation about Jesus.
We give it all away
The Gospel is 100% free and so is Alpha. We believe that everyone should have the opportunity to explore life, meaning and faith at no cost.
Alpha Ireland is an Irish registered charity that funds its work solely through the generosity of local donors.
